I will preface today’s post with a sincere apology for posting only once a week since December 17th. I promise twice per week, and I think it’s important to keep commitments. I had the flu in early December, then we got into Christmas. I needed a bit of a break - time to just rest and to enjoy the holidays with my family.
In my last post December 31st, I already wished everyone a Happy New Year, and I do so once again. However, the new year will be only as good as our intention and iron will to manifest it. I think it is foolish to believe that it will be handed to us on a silver platter, so on that note, let our journey begin…
Famous explorers of old had the support of their kings and queens to discover new lands, fresh opportunities for growth and settlement, expansion of old empires. Supplies and some men and ships, plus gold coins as incentive and fortification of the spirit, got the job done. Rumors of more riches to be had, as well as peoples to be conquered, further fueled the desire of some power hungry leaders of exploration.
But for the more common men and women who followed them into the New World, their reasons were different. A deep desire burned for a new life outside of their known society, to feel the wide open spaces where one’s spirit could breathe again, and explore the freedom of a more personal say in the course of one’s own destiny. This was not an easy path. It took courage, sacrifice, hard work, and diligence to make a life in unknown territory.
History has a way of repeating itself. In the past three years we have witnessed an intensifying pattern of domination and control in society once again. One of the truly magnificent aspects of human nature is that in times of challenge we find our true grit and rise to the occasion. History shows that our inherent spirit is strong, and we usually find a way out to move onward and upward. Will we do so once again?
This recurring pattern of domination is an ancient one, but this time it is different because it is global. As new geography on Earth is pretty much used up anyway, our backs are fundamentally against the wall. There is nowhere to run and hide, pretending that it doesn’t exist or it will just go away on its own. We have now come fully face-to-face with the eternal human challenge of freedom v.s. slavery.
I therefore suggest to you that humanity’s next frontier will not be one simply fueled by spirit, but it will be one OF spirit, an expansion of our collective consciousness. The big question we must answer first is, are we as a collective finally ready to reject the concept of shackling other human beings once and for all? The current shackles of society are not so easy to recognize, because they are invisible. There are those only too willing to impose them for their own gain of power, and many are only too willing to accept them.
But if the answer is “yes, we are ready”, then what is that next frontier we want to carve out? How does that next New World we desire look and feel? It is time for us to develop a new vision in our imaginations, creating and honing it with the fire of our deep desire. We must then muster courage to head out into the unknown and never look back.
The next New World will not simply be discovered, and we won’t need kings and queens to finance it, or for that mattter to give us permission. We will create it.
