As we stand possibly on the brink of WW III, I ponder on the stupidity of a war that could go nuclear over a piece of territory. At what point will the leaders say, “The cost is too great”?
Possibly not at all, as there is no real cost to those who declare the wars. The cost of sacred LIFE is borne by those who hold the guns and man the tanks, the families who lose beloved ones, and the absolute decimation of everything that we built.
When will it stop? When we stop supporting the agendas of psychopaths.
Good people believe in goodness, and that goodness will prevail. Goodness is a wonderful attribute to have, but not when it’s turned against us as a weapon.
Good people trust, which makes it hard for them to see the subtle undercurrent of psychopathy in society, unless of course it’s in a movie, the classic chain saw murderer, whose tool in hand makes the evil undeniable. Once in a while such blatant examples rear their heads in real life, and those are usually sent to jail.
However, there are many more examples of “quiet psychopathy” around us. These ones also completely lack empathy and therefore remorse, and in fact they believe they are quite entitled to take advantage of others. They see it as our own fault if we’re too stupid to see through them. They’re often intelligent and attractive, and know how to use these charismatic attributes to manipulate others. They see that good people value empathy, so they also know the words to use to emulate it to manipulate us.
I believe we witnessed examples of the quiet psychopath coming out of the closet during the early days of the pandemic. These were some in political positions who seemed callously gleeful at the prospect of locking up the population. But, of course, the rules didn’t necessarily apply to them.
This is why wars of the spirit cannot and will not be won simply with “love and light”. There is a naiveté to this belief, grounded in blind trust, that is dangerous. Evil does exist, but these days it’s often shrouded in Orwellian double speak coming across our phones. It’s important to critically discern and see the world with eyes wide open, because we and all of humanity are standing on the threshold of opportunity to create something different. But first we must acknowledge the darkness of the psychopath, and not allow it to prevail.
To come full circle, do you tell yourself that nuclear war will never happen? Another trait of the psychopath is impulsiveness, and now we have wars fought with missiles launched at the push of a button. Good people stand around hoping their leaders won’t push buttons of mass destruction, ones bought and paid for by the very populations that could be destroyed.
When will it stop? I gave my answer at the top of this post. Your answer may be completely different…
