A World of Division or Harmony?
Divisiveness threatens to destroy us.
Divided We Fall "Together we stand, divided we fall", a lofty premise that has never really taken hold, at least not with humanity. See how easily we are divided by self-serving leaders and media who know how to manipulate our fears. "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me", a child's retort for behavior we never outgrew. See how easily we label and judge each other with broad stroke assumptions and misperceptions rolled into hate. We can blame the leaders if we want to, but, we need to look at the behavior we accept and perpetuate.
This is a period of time where we are questioning society and our own place in it. Lately there appears to be an agenda to create hate as the norm. As just one example, some politicians who claim they’re against hate speech hypocritically say things to incite hate and divide us.
Because people are not centered enough in themselves in a fearful world, they buy into it and anger takes over. We are being divided and are fighting with each other on every front, be it gender, race, politics, social rules, and the list goes on. However, ultimately we are responsible for our own anger and actions. Personal responsibility is key to humanity moving forward at this crucial time in history.
Do you feel good about the direction society is taking right now? Do you feel empowered to change any of it? I will be writing much more about this going forward.
For my part, I don’t want to settle for a world of isolation, division, and disconnectedness. It’s very important for us to hold a vision of what WE want. On that note, you may want to read Sunday’s post: Imagining A New Paradigm
In our evolution of the collective humanity, we have the free will and right to choose the kind of future we want. But we must believe that first, and we must choose soon. We can solve this, if we stop fighting and start working together.
In It Together In a system that feels heartless and remote, now more than ever we must reach out to others in kindness, in a personal way, human-to-human. The problems of all of humanity are now breaching our own backyards; it's no longer possible to turn a blind eye, we’re in it together.
